I am a technology enthusiast who started playing with computers around the age of 13. Back in the mid 80s my mom would drive me around to her friends homes and businesses to help install, fix or do work on a computer. I setup early dot matrix printers back in the DOS days and expanded into Windows and small networks very quickly. My first IT job came a few years later for a small home builder in Agoura Hills, CA where I learned about 10Base-T networks, Novell Netware LAN software and eventually. Not long after I started doing basic SQL, backup and recovery, and moved into Ethernet LAN. Security was the next big thing in my life, and I spent about 10 years focused on penetration testing, application security and malware / virus protection. During this time I learned about firewalls and proxy devices as well as IDS and IPS systems. All this gave me an opportunity to lead technical teams. It took a long time, but I’m now at peace with the fact that most of my staff are more technical than I am.
My Professional experience is below (pasted from my resume)
· 20 Years Data Center Infrastructure
· 14 Years Security, M&A, business expansion · 5 Years Cloud Application Integration |
· Multi-Vendor LAN / WAN Integration
· Monitoring, Regulatory Compliance · RFP, Vendor Relations, Budget Planning |
I have now been an IT Director / Manager for about 10 years
My hope with this blog to to give back to the community and also keep myself shard on technologies I don’t handle on a regular basis. I truly hope someone somewhere finds value in what I write here.
Outside of work I have an avid sports fan, following most major pro sports. I enjoy playing racquetball and learning to ice skate.
Enjoy the blog!
